Ken Samuelson

Ken Samuelson is a retired alumnus of George Washington University and lives in Pittsboro, North Carolina. In his retirement, Ken has devoted a great deal of energy to recording the stories World War II veterans, many of which are saved in the North Carolina State Archives. Ken invites the veterans into his home to record conversations about their experiences in World War II. Often, the stories that veterans offer Ken have never been told before. His understanding demeanor and personal experiences with the military (while he never went overseas, he served in the US military during the war) evoke an exceptional level of openness from his subjects. This set of images was made for GW Magazine, the alumni magazine of George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
